Lima

Welcome at Lima airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2

Lima

Today you have a full day to explore the city of Lima. Capital city located in the heart of the narrow coastal strip separating the Pacific Ocean from the Andes.

Lima derives its name from a fruit evoking the soul of a woman. The city has been nicknamed "Pearl of the Pacific" thanks to its romantic charm inspired by a rich past and its contemporary witnesses foun din the presence of old churches, magnificent squares and quaint houses.

Day 3

Lima - Nazca

Your day starts with a transfer to the bus station and a bus trip to Nazca. Once arrived your transfer awaits again to bring you to your hotel, your home for the next night.

Day 4

Nazca - Arequipa

You can enjoy a full day exploring Nazca and its surroundings. The Nazca lines are well-known and due to their size best visible from the sky. They depict images of animals and geometric figures. The mummy cemetery in Chauchilla as well will definitely appeal to your imagination.

At night transfer to the bus station, the nightbus trip will take you to Arequipa, the second-largest city in Peru.

Day 5 - 6

Arequipa

After arrival, your transfer and hotel room have been pre-arranged. You will reside here for the next two nights.

An abundance of time to explore this beautiful and vibrant city full of colonial influences, monumental churches, and cozy squares. Definitely pop in at the Santa Catalina monastery where the nuns enjoyed a very exuberant lifestyle. The Colca Canyon, 160 km further on, is worth the effort as well. It is the second deepest canyon in the world, twice as deep as Grand Canyon! Old traditions and ways of life survived in the picturesque villages nearby. Nature buffs may want to visit The Cruz del Condor from where you can observe the Andes Condor in full glory.

Day 7

Arequipa - Puno

Like all previous days, your next adventure starts with a transfer to the bus station and a bus trip, transfer, and check-in at your hotel. This time your destination is Puno.

In Puno itself, there is not much to visit, besides a number of small museums including the Casa del Corregidor, Coca Museum, and Museo Carlos Dreyer. Yet the place buzzes with nice, affordable, cozy restaurants, and in the center, you can climb the Mirador Manco Capac for perfect views of the city.

Day 8

Uros Islands - Amantani Island

In the morning (mostly between 7 & 8 am) you leave for a visit to the Uros Islands (1h30). These artificial islands are located in Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.

Then you board a boat to Amantani Island where you check into your basic local hut for the night. After lunch, a programmed trekking takes you to the temple of Pacha Tata and Pacha Mama. Dinner is foreseen as well.

Day 9

Taquile Island - Puno

Today you enjoy breakfast before the crack of dawn (6.30am) because with a little luck you will soon witness a stunning sunrise.

By boat you reach the island of Taquile that you explore at your own pace. In the late afternoon -say by 4pm- you reach your hotel in Puno.

Day 10

Puno - Cusco

Transfer to the Puno bus station for your bus trip to Cuzco. Upon arrival you check in at your hotel where you'll stay for the next 5 nights.

Day 11 - 14

Cuzco

Free days to explore Cuzco city and the surrounding Sacred Valley.

The Incas believed that Cuzco was the residence of the gods and as such the town was bound to become the capital of the Inca empire. A European architecture in combination with the mind-boggling Inca building techniques and a strong Spanish influence make this city unique to the very core and unlike any other in Peru.

The Inca citadel of Machu Picchu is one of many sites why Cuzco was been declared the archaeological capital of South America.

Day 13

Machu Picchu

The most tremendous highlight of this tour is still to come: to trot the soil of the magic Machu Picchu. In order to get there, you board the train at Poroy and rail to this last refuge of the Incas.

This magnificent site is an absolute must-see for anyone besides the fact it belongs to the 7 world wonders. The impressive Machu Picchu site would have been built by the Incas in the 2nd half of the 15th century. You return by rail as well. Transfer back to your hotel.

Day 11 - 14

Cuzco

Transfer to Cuzco airport.
