Day 1

Auckland

Imagine a city where everyone lives close to beautiful beaches, where hiking routes abound and dozen beautiful islands surround the area. Add to that a sunny climate and a passion for excellent dining and you will get a picture of Auckland, the largest and most multicultural city in the country.

Day 2 - 3

Rotorua

Today, the Waikato River will guide you through a green hilly landscape for much of your journey. In Matamata you can enjoy a picturesque trip over the Kaimai Ranges to Hobbiton, a film location from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. When you visit the set you will learn how this region was transformed into Middle Earth. Then continue to Rotorua.

On day 3 All the focus is on Rotorua famous for its mud pools, geysers and boiling lakes due to volcanic activity. The sulfur smell proves that the surface of the earth is very thin. The city is also an important center for Maori culture. Learn more about this region with a variety of activities.

Day 4

Wellington

The route to Wellington reveals some of the most interesting geological features of New Zealand. Tongariro National Park and its three volcanoes is home to particularly dramatic landscapes. Your end destination today is Wellington, the compact and charming capital of the country.

Day 5

Nelson

The ferry ride through the Cook Strait is probably the world's most beautiful ferry ride ever. It takes you to Picton, the ideal base for visiting the Marlborough Sounds. Drive through the mussel town of Havelock and the gold rush village of Canvastown to Nelson, home to craftsmen and art lovers.

Day 6

Greymouth

Your drive to the west coast will take you to Westport, the perfect starting point for numerous outdoor activities. Continue to Paparoa National Park, where you can admire amazing rock formations, lush native forests and limestone gorges. At the end of the day you arrive in Greymouth, a city with an interesting history of jade and gold mining.

Day 7

Fox Glacier

On your programme today is Hokitika, the Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier. More than 140 glaciers flow through the Southern Alps, but only Fox and Franz Josef Glacier reach the rainforest, one of the only two places in the world where that happens. Opt for a closer look at the glaciers with a helicopter ride or heli hike.

Day 8 - 9

Queenstown

Cross the mountains and valleys of the Haast Pass. Hiking trails along the road make a number of hidden waterfalls and pools easier to access. The tour along the Wanaka, Hawea and Dunstan lakes leads you to the fruit and wine region around Cromwell and the Kawarau Gorge, known for its historic bridge. Arrival in Queenstown, where adventure awaits you.

On day 9 you will discover Queenstown. There is a certain dynamic here that inspires people to go out into the world and push boundaries. Activities such as bungee jumping, skydiving, canyon swings, jet boating, horse riding, rafting and mountain biking are possible all year round. You can also ski there in the winter.

Day 10

Milford - Te Anau

Today there is an extraordinary drive on the program. The splendor of the Fjordland National Park always succeeds in fascinating travelers. Take the Homer Tunnel to Milford Sound, an amazing 22 km long fjord where Miter Peak plays the lead.

Day 11 - 12

Dunedin

Leave the wonderful mountains and fjords of Te Anau behind you. The drive to the south shows the best that this region has to offer: deep rivers, agricultural meadows and protected nature reserves. You arrive in Dunedin, also known as the Edinburgh of New Zealand. Dunedin has an interesting history as a Scottish settlement. Enough to fill your entire day 12 with. Many buildings also date from the time of the gold rush. Fill your day with a visit to Larnach Castle, The Royal Albatross Center on the Otago Peninsula or Penguin Place, a private reserve to protect the endangered yellow-eyed penguin.

Day 13

Christchurch

The Moeraki Boulders are a draw that you will find along the way; these are mysterious spherical rocks that are scattered on the beach. According to Maori legend, these are gourds that were washed up hundreds of years ago after the wreckage of the canoe that landed their people. Continue on to Christchurch, where heritage and innovation meet.

Christchurch

Take the time to explore the city by double-decker bus, bicycle, gondola, tram or discover the nice bars, numerous eateries and eclectic boutiques on foot. Finally, your tour through New Zealand comes to an end here.
